My Recent Goals | New Habits

There is no perfect time or place for improvement.
I don’t have to wait until the start of a new month or a new year to improve myself.

When I woke up today, I was running on four hours of sleep. I was wishing I could sleep in an hour longer and I thought about skipping class. I’m a commuter and, previously, I had what I felt what were “valid” reasons for skipping class. Last semester, I worked an hour away and barely had enough gas money most weeks. This semester, I was working third shift full-time and I was exhausted. Not to mention that it was difficult to sleep after work, wake up to go to class, then try to go back to sleep before work.

Now, I don’t work full-time and I work in the town that I live in. What excuses do I have for missing class? None.

Today, I realized how silly it is for me to miss things that I am fully capable of attending. I have an opportunity to get an education and to have a bright future. My attitude, in one day, has switched from “I wish I had more time to relax,” to being extremely grateful for the opportunities I have in front of me. Not only do I feel blessed to receive an education, but I am also blessed to have a job, and a functioning mind and body.

I’ve thought a lot about the goals I want to achieve in different areas of my life. Today, I’m writing them out and holding myself accountable.

Below is the list of daily or weekly goals I have for myself which I plan on making into long-term habits. Hopefully when reading, you think about your goals as well, and what would like to incorporate into your life — there is no such thing as too much improvement.


Getting organized

Write a to-do list in my bullet journal each day.
Reflect on progress toward daily and future goals — track my habits.


Create at least one thing each day via painting, drawing, writing, or taking photos.
Get inspired by other artists at least once a week via YouTube, Pinterest, or Google searches.


Plan out 2+ blog posts on Fridays and Saturdays to be posted the following week.
Search up something about CSS once a week.
Get back into photography by learning about it once a week, so that my posts can feel like more of my own creation.


Go to every class, every day.
Study at least one hour each day.
Attend at least one sorority event each week (excluding chapter).

Health & Fitness

Stay hydrated

Start each day off with a glass of water.
Drink at least 8 cups of water throughout the day.

Make healthier food choices

Include more vegetables at lunch and dinner.
Limit bread consumption to once a week.

More exercise

Weight-lift three times or more throughout the week.
Do cardio once a week.



Looking at this list, it seems like a lot of habits to fit into my schedule. However, I already do most of these things weekly, so I don’t feel too overwhelmed. I am actually really excited to stick to these, and go to bed knowing that I made the most of my day.
